Ducati rider plays his first hand well

Althea Racing Ducati rider Davide Giugliano swooped to take the fastest lap of the first free practice session in Germany, leading the other main competitors in the eni FIM Superbike World Championship at the classic Nürburgring circuit in Germany.

Fabulous weather helped all the top riders in the first session, with Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing Team) second quickest and his main championship rival Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) just behind.

Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) pushed on to fourth with his fellow Briton Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) fifth. Ducati riders Sylvain Guintoli (PATA Racing Team) and Carlos Checa (Althea Racing) completed a high-class top seven.
